This video came from Patti Wight shortly after purchasing a bull from us.

Bickham Ranch:

Our cattle are bred July thru August each year to calf in the spring.  We wean our calves, in the fall, at our weaning yard were they are fed and handled each day, until the next spring grasses come in full and the pastures are looking great.

We segregate our calves by age, (weanlings, yearlings, 2 years old) until they are 3 years old.   Proper nutrition during the growing years is very important to us.  Keeping our cattle segregated by age keep the larger cattle from hogging all of the food.

During spring and summer months our nutritional program implements minimal supplements, yet creates docility while encouraging self-sufficiency and hardiness.  This is to minimize “shrinkage” or drop-off upon transfer.

Herd Health:

Dr. Mark Jackson, in Meridian, TX, is our ranch vet.  We vaccinate calves at 2 months of age for clostridial and respiratory diseases. We give calf booster vaccinations on month later.  At weaning we repeat our vaccinations.  Dr. Jackson gives the calfhood vaccinations one month after weaning.  Weather permitting, he de-horns the calves at that time also.  We worm and fly spray as needed.

All cattle one year of age and older are vaccinated annually, wormed and fly sprayed as needed.

Brahman cattle are very hardy and seldom require any additional care.  We work our cattle slowly and quietly in a stress free fashion.  Brahmans are easy calfers and great mothers.

We have not had any issues with bad genetics.

Pricing:

Our prices (and picture) are posted online for each Brahman we sell.  Here at Bickham Ranch we maintain a simple price structure.  We apply a discount or premium based on disposition, confirmation, color, and age.  All of our Brahman calves and heifers have a base price of $5,000 each.  Our Brahman cows and mature bulls start with a base price of $3,500 each.  Our premiums and discounts range between $500 and $1,000.  All of our prices are negotiable.  For us to stay in the ranching business, we know how important it is to sell cattle every year.  We truly appreciate all of our customers!  Please feel free to make an offer on any Brahman you have chosen to add to your herd.

Misc:

We do get a little down time every now and then.
